Finding innovative solutions to support employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital is partnering with Sodexo to launch an in-house grocery delivery service – and is moving to widespread use of iPads to connect patients with staff and family members.
To support hospitals’ staffing needs during the COVID-19 pandemic, HASC is pleased to announce our partnership with AMN Healthcare to offer a rapid staffing network solution called Medefis.

An exciting communications campaign created by our partners at California Hospital Association and the Our Health California digital community spotlights the positive work of hospitals to support the area’s homeless population. A new campaign, called Homeless Guardians, shares stories that underline the moving and very critical work hospitals do for our society’s most vulnerable. It’s a four-part photo essay with accompanying writeups featuring real people from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento and San Diego.
As part of HASC’s workforce initiative, Azusa Pacific University, or APU, will offer two perioperative RN specialty courses this fall. The APU RN Specialty courses are available for any hospital in the region to prepare RNs transferring to a new position in perioperative nursing at their hospital.
It’s time for ReddiNet hospitals to upgrade to the new Hughes JUPITER™ satellite communication system, including those in Alameda, Contra Costa, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties. ReddiNet members should complete the upgrade as soon as possible to avoid service delays later this year.
As concern over the spread of coronavirus increases, we at HASC would like to ensure that we do our part to exercise the best prevention practices and enable you to do what you do best – care for patients. As a result, we are thinking differently about in-person meetings or events where there are alternatives, such as conference calls. Here are some things for us to start doing immediately.
As hospitals and health systems closely monitor developments and guidance issued by public health experts at the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), HASC has created a central location for updates on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). HASC also is regularly communicating with key officials to ensure we can be responsive to member needs and concerns.
In the past week, the extent of novel coronavirus in our state and across the country has become more clear, and more sobering. As with many public health issues, this one is both highly complicated and rapidly evolving.
The seven-day countdown has begun! HASC’s Women in Health Care Leadership Conference runs March 12-13 — focused on breaking barriers that impede women from leadership roles. During the two-day conference, attendees will learn proven skills and techniques to chart ways forward.
Enrollment is now open for the 2020 LEAD Academy leadership course in Sacramento, which runs April through September. The intensive, six-day, 12-module course is presented by the Hospital Association of Southern California in partnership with Hospital Council — Northern & Central California.
Enrollment is now open for HASC’s 2020 Spring LEAD Academy program scheduled for four more sessions through June at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale. The next session happens Friday, March 20.
Seats remain for March 20 – topics include Leadership Communications Best Practices and Coaching Employees to Higher Performance.
