HASC announces its 2015 Board. Please register now for upcoming
important educational programs: LEAD Academy beginning Jan. 23;

Hospitals interested in peer-to-peer learning offered through the
Southern California Patient Safety First Collaborative can still
get on board for 2015. In Orange County this week: a coalition
pushes for system improvements for patients in psychiatric
crisis, and CalOptima Board approves recuperative care

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has authorized
implementation of AB 1421, the Assisted Outpatient Treatment
(AOT) Demonstration Project. Also in LA County, two new
Supervisors have been sworn in. Bridges Maternal Child Health
Network has improved in its efficiency since a program redesign.

Fifty-two hospitals have registered to participate in HASC’s
Modern Pricing and Transparency Initiative (MPTI) as they
independently implement Modern Pricing. Reminder: It’s not too
late to reach your CHPAC campaign goal for 2014. This week, HASC
also welcomes Atlas Lift Tech as a business partner.
An informational webcast on Nov. 4 will provide details about
Advanced LEAD Academy, coming in Spring 2015. HASC’s leadership
in Orange County affirmed its support for county plans to convert
its crisis stabilization unit to the PES model of care. Register

Effective Nov. 1, the Los Angeles County Health Officer is
mandating that all health care personnel who work in acute care
hospitals, long-term care facilities, and intermediate care
facilities in Los Angeles County be vaccinated against influenza,

pain medication prescribing in Los Angeles County EDs. In other

HASC has launched the Health Benefits and Wellness Program to
help hospitals reduce the amount of money they spend on health
care benefits for their employees. Also in the news this week,
CHPAC has established its 2014 fundraising goals and campaign,
and a report on the Wage Index Improvement Program indicates a
benefit to California hospitals of approximately $51 million.

HASC welcomes its board members for 2014. Also this week, HASC
and Orange County collaborated to submit a mental health grant
proposal to expedite treatment for patients in the most
