The agenda for the 2019 HQI Annual Conference is set! The
conference, taking place in Sacramento Oct. 14 and 15, is the
premier event for advancing patient safety and quality
initiatives. Attendees will learn strategies and take-home tools
for transforming care, leading reliability and delivering value
to each person, each time, and in each community.
On June 13, HASC members met for Leader Mindsets: The Key to Unlocking Effective Leadership. The half-day workshop focused on the importance and responsibility of an optimum mindset to drive leadership success when facing challenges in health care environments.
HASC and HealthImpact coordinated this Orange County Nursing Specialty Advisory Team forum along with three other regional meetings this past autumn.

Margie Harrier is CEO at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center in the Harbor City area of Los Angeles. Prior, she served as COO in Kaiser’s Orange County service area. three Orange County candidates ready to be placed by June
30. Internships are for 10 consecutive weeks beginning by July 8

Steve Popkin is CEO at Lompoc Valley Medical Center. Prior to Lompoc, Popkin served as CEO at 193-bed Parkview Community Hospital Medical Center in Riverside.
HASC and the San Francisco-based Institute for Medical Quality, with a grant from the W.M. Keck Foundation, have partnered to produce a groundbreaking demonstration on length-of-stay in hospital EDs. Using lean strategies to streamline procedures, the evaluation found significantly reduced wait times can save hospitals money and generate revenue.

Several days remain to enroll for Advanced LEAD Academy’s May 30 session — which focuses on emotional Intelligence and the critical skill of negotiation.
Two additional Advanced LEAD sessions are scheduled this summer. They run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 27 and Wednesday, July 24.
Six comprehensive training modules will be covered over the three days – to empower professionals with the following skills.

Three senior Association managers have new job titles and refined assignments, HASC President/CEO George W. Greene announced this week.
They are Mark Gamble, Chief of Advocacy and Operations; Scott Twomey, Senior Vice President/CFO and President, AllHealth; and Paul Young, Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Reimbursement.
