COVID-19 infections are continuing a steep climb, with hospitalizations now surpassing the 3,000 mark — a number we haven’t seen since late February. The 30-day increase is a staggering 370 percent across our six-county region and projections signal an upward trajectory. This increase, driven by the highly-infectious Delta variant, is having a devastating impact among the unvaccinated.

Medical Baseline Power Allowances: How Hospitals Can Assist Patients

July 30, 2021

Southern California Edison (SCE) offers the following alert for hospitals on the utility’s Medical Baseline Allowance program. If a patient or someone in a patient’s household requires the regular use of electrically-powered medical equipment or other qualifying medical devices they may quality for the program, which provides more electricity at the lowest baseline rate to help offset the cost of operating medical equipment.

HR Metrics Survey Starts Aug. 2

HASC’s Salarity website is poised to launch its biennial HR Metrics Survey on Monday, Aug. 2. The response period runs through Friday, Sept. 10. Visit Salarity to enroll.

Salarity is the provider of the Allied for Health Surveys – a California statewide data resource to help hospitals make smarter decisions. Other products include the Hot Jobs, Executive, Management, Non-Management Compensation, and Union Penetration surveys.

LEAD Academy Launches on Friday, Aug. 6

HASC’s LEAD Academy leadership training program is the association’s longest-running and most popular education offering. This year’s second virtual series starts on Friday, Aug. 6 and runs biweekly through Jan. 21.

HASC Partner GreenRock Offers Funding Option for COVID-19-related Mitigation

July 27, 2021

California Department of Public Health recently issued a 60-day notice stating that temporary waivers of specified regulatory requirements will expire on Sept. 30, 2021. Additionally, OSHPD has notified hospitals that all temporary changes of use, or modification to the physical environment, must be restored to original condition by Nov. 11 (six weeks after expiration of the waiver).

Community Health Worker / Promotor Survey Invites Responses Through Wednesday, June 30

June 25, 2021

UC San Francisco (UCSF), in partnership with HASC and FutureSense, has launched a Community Health Worker/Promotor (CHW/P) Survey. The survey is part of a larger study, approved by UCSF’s Institutional Review Board, examining the CHW/P workforce in California that will inform community stakeholders and support future CHW/P planning efforts in the state.
