Nearly two dozen executive assistant administrative professionals shared experiences and compared workplace challenges at HASC’s annual Administrative Professionals Forum last Friday.

Topics included job stress, work-life balance, workplace communication and leadership skills. The session ended with HASC President/CEO George W. Greene offering an overview of issues affecting hospital operations today — and those set to affect hospitals in the future.

Associate Member Lunch Draws More Than 30 Members

More than 30 HASC associate members attended the annual Associate Member Lunch at HASC’s downtown Los Angeles location on Oct. 17. 

The program began with a welcome from George W. Greene, HASC’s President/CEO. Greene expressed his appreciation for associate members and their willingness to support member hospitals and the association. He also highlighted the association’s involvement in collaborative solutions to the issue of homelessness throughout the association’s boundaries.

Education Program Offers Hospital Security Officers Specialized Training

A total of 22 hospital security personnel attended HASC’s IAHSS Security & Safety Certification Program last month. Each attendee received instruction on basic level health care security and skills. Participants then applied their training by completing the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety Basic Level Certification test — 17 passed the exam.

LEAD Academy’s session No. 3 takes place Thursday, Dec. 14 in Moreno Valley and Friday, Dec. 15 in Glendale. The two-part session includes a look at Planning and Running Effective Meetings and Building and Leading Effective Teams.

Classes take place at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale and Riverside University Health System – Medical Center in Moreno Valley.

Nurse Manager White Paper Follows Sept. 14 Event

Forty attendees participated in Sept. 14’s Nursing Span of Control – A C-Suite Discussion to explore this challenging issue. The morning consisted of a three-hour workshop with speakers diving deep into span of control (SOC) — the proportion of nurse employees to each nurse manager or supervisor. Attendees also shared success stories and brought their SOC challenges to the table for brainstorming and planning.
